Welcome to my practice!
My counselling style is dynamic. I steer clear of ‘one size fits all’ thinking. I understand each of us as having a unique set of circumstances that leads us to seek support.
As such, I take an integrative approach and pull from multiple evidence based practices. The primary disciplines informing my therapeutic orientation are Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, Gestalt and Hakomi principles, Buddhist Psychology and Neuroscience research.
The keystone of my work is mindfulness awareness. This creates space for unconscious, often times maladaptive beliefs and behaviours to surface, which we unpack and make sense of together.
I believe that there is often an intelligent explanation for our behaviours. Even when they’re harmful and outdated, they’re serving a purpose. I prefer to organize and make sense of why we do what we do rather than pathologize.
As such, I support clients with understanding what emotional needs are trying to get met. Together we update your operating system by finding better ways to meet these needs that don’t come at such a cost.
I’m aware that there are times in our lives where we can loose sight of our worth and struggle to feel confident in ourselves. My job is to support you with putting that back into focus, and have you connecting with your unique value. As your counsellor, I see myself as your champion for this.
I hold a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Anthropology from St. Thomas University, and a Masters degree in Transpersonal Counselling Psychology from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.
I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. With over 15 years supporting people on a personal growth path, I’ve had the unique opportunity to work with individuals and families as a Wilderness Therapist, and in more conventional clinical settings as a Certified Counsellor and as a former Registered Psychotherapist, all within the field of mental health and addictions.
Prior to stepping into my calling as a therapist I worked in the outdoor industry and tried my hand at international development work. These experiences taught me grit and compassion respectively - two things I draw upon daily in my work as a counsellor.
I’m a former competitive gymnast and high level climber. When I’m not working you can often find me wandering in the mountains or jumping on a flight for my next adventure.
I have a strong appreciation for community, authentic relationship, spending time in nature, globetrotting and humour!
I hold a daily meditation practice and prioritize my wellness like it’s my job!
Please contact me at www.sarahjeffreycounselling.com to tell me more about yourself and set up an initial appointment.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and flexible to suit the needs of each individual client. I work with women only at this time. I specialize in working with women affected by stress, anxiety, depression and those struggling with past trauma and PTSD. I also offer personalized support to women struggling in their relationships.
Together we can uncover unconscious patterns, beliefs and assumptions that are causing you suffering and keeping you feeling "stuck." I can support you with emotional skill building and developing a clear understanding of your past experiences and how your nervous system is impacted now. You will feel more at peace, hopeful and resilient.
My goal as a therapist is to empower clients to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives. If you're looking for a compassionate and skilled therapist to support you on your journey towards healing and growth, I would be honored to work with you.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. A graduate from UBC in Biopsychology and City University in Counselling Psychology, I have worked in the Sea to Sky Corridor since 2006 supporting and counselling adults and families experiencing a wide range of difficult life stressors and mental health concerns. My focus in therapy is to develop a safe and confidential therapeutic relationship that provides the foundation for exploring underlying issues that may be barriers to your quality of life and wellbeing.
Living with stress, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship conflict, postpartum depression/anxiety, and substance use can be isolating and disconnecting. I work alongside individuals helping them to connect with their emotional, mental, physical and spiritual selves to empower their inherent capacity to change and grow. Some examples of how I help people improve their lives include: develop emotional coping strategies, change unhelpful thinking patterns, transform self-defeating attitudes, restore lifestyle balance, and discover meaning and purpose.
Collaboratively we will identify therapy goals and create the change you are seeking. I have lived in Squamish since 2000 and enjoy reading about exceptional human beings, practicing mindfulness meditation, and spending time with my family in our beautiful backyard.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, with a Masters in Counselling. With 20 years of experience in a variety of counselling settings, I am adept at working with youth and young adults (ages 14-40) experiencing a range of life stressors and mental health concerns.
Within the therapeutic relationship, I strive to create a safe, trusting and compassionate space. Practicing from a client-centered approach, I view individuals as experts in their own lives and see counselling as a collaborative process of identifying therapeutic goals and experiencing change.
In my practice, I work with teens and young adults, specializing in therapeutic conversations that support the unique experiences and challenges during this time in life. In particular, I am knowledgeable in supporting the emotional needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, transgender, non-binary, queer, questioning, and Two-Spirit teens and young adults. I am trained to complete Hormone Readiness Assessments for youth and adults. I also offer preparation and integration support for those using psychedelic medicines.
As a support for parents and caregivers of teens and young adults, I offer consultation for relational distress, and to address the challenges that perpetuate stress and conflict within the family system. In particular, learning to re-build connection with teens or young adults, even when it feels exhausting and impossible.
As a sex-positive therapist and graduate of Opt’s Sexual Health Educator Certification (SHEC) program, I promote a healthy attitude towards human sexual behaviour and safer sex practices. I appreciate and respect gender, sexual and relationship diversity in all the work that I do.
In addition to my clinical work, I co-founded Sea 2 Sky Allies, with a goal to offer resources, support, and community building among parents/caregivers of 2SLGBTQ+ children and youth. In addition to education and building stronger allyship in the greater community. I am committed to being a visible, supportive and resourceful advocate.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor. My passion in counselling is to create relationships built on safety, trust, and hope, where people feel accepted and challenged to grow in new and meaningful ways. I feel this work is a privilege and I admire the courage it takes to reach out for support when life feels hard. In our work together, we can walk through fears, challenges, and hurts, and open towards experiencing healing and restoration. I see the counselling relationship as an opportunity to help people diminish suffering, cope with the challenges of life (both normal and extraordinary), and experience increased joy, hope & connection (with self & others).
As a resident of Squamish for over 15 years, Sarah also shares a weekly community meditation and yoga class, offers seasonal retreats and is a curriculum consultant for the BCSTH (BC Society of Transition Houses) Children's programs (PEACE & VIP). I am a Somatic Psychotherapist, Registered Clinical Counsellor, and Founder of the Feminine Path to Well-being – a kinder approach to health and fitness. My approach to therapy is holistic; an integration of 35 yrs. of mind and body education and experience helping people heal. I began as a Registered Massage Therapist, and quickly saw the connection between my client’s physical issues and emotional state. I saw the need to work holistically – mind-body-spirit – from a Western science-informed perspective. I attained my BSc. (Psychology) from the University of Calgary, and my Masters in Counselling Psychology (Specializing in Body-oriented psychology) from the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco.
My approach is informed by training and experiences with Traditional Medicine of the First Nations and Eastern Medicine – Chinese and Ayurvedic. Their perspective on the connection between humans, nature and the larger Cosmos informs my belief in working holistically.
By providing a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate space, I support my clients in connecting more deeply with themselves to understand what is at root of their struggle and stuckness. I see my role as helping my clients explore the subconscious beliefs and behaviours that may be perpetuating emotional distress, unhealthy behaviours, and difficulty in relationships. Supporting clients with mind and body techniques can help move clients out of negative thought patterns and states of fight/flight/freeze.
Often, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, weight issues, addictive behaviours and low self-esteem are symptoms of early childhood traumas and unhealed wounds. Uncovering the deeper issues doesn’t necessarily mean that clients need long term therapy. The time needed depends on the individual. I provide clients with both tools to make changes immediately and the time and space for change to come about organically.
I believe we are meant to heal and grow - transforming and integrating life’s difficulties, wounds, and traumas. Not to be defined by these experiences but evolve. My goal is to provide clients with the support they need to feel a deep sense of well-being – resilient, bouyant, confident and free to move forward in their life.
